Dr. Nur Hafizah Abd Khalid is a senior lecturer at Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM and a research member of Construction Material Research Group (CMRG) and Waste Technology and Carbonation Research. Currently, she has been appointed as Council Member of Concrete Society Malaysia (CSM).
Dr. Nur Hafizah Abd Khalid started her higher education in Diploma of Civil Engineering with First Class Honours in 2002 at Polytechnic of Port Dickson. Then she earned her Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in the same field at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2005; also as a First Class Honours student in 2008. Before she further her Master’s degree, she gained herself some experiences in research and worked as an Asisstant Research Officer (ARO) in UTM for one year. Two years after that, she earned her Master’s degree on structure and materials in 2011; also from UTM. Her research title is Characterizations of Kenaf Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites for Structural Elements. With highly passion and determination, she continues her study in PhD at UTM and Graduate on Time in year 2016. At this stage, she has been awarded as the Best Postgraduate Student 2016 and awarded with Chancellor’s Award 2016 in UTM 56th Convocation (She gave a speech during 1st UTM Hooding ceremony)
(Chancellor Award is recognized as Royal Award)
Her PhD research title is Binder and Micro-Filler Characterization and Properties of Palm Oil Fuel Ash Polymer Concrete, and this research has been awarded with Merit Award. During her study, she was a very active student; involved in Postgraduate Student Society UTM-FKA as treasurer and vice-president in research and academic. Besides that, she is competent in writing indexed journal articles (SCOPUS and WEB OF SCIENCE) and she has published about 24 publications within 2013 to 2016. She won several awards during National and International Innovation Exhibition, and she took opportunity to patent several products during that time.
She has also been awarded as Young Women Scientist (representing Malaysia) in 2014 in South Korea by KWSE/APNN and also awarded as Talented Young Scientist Program (TYSP) 2019-2020 under International Mobility Fund (150,000 RMB) that funded by Chinese Government.
Her research interest focuses on advanced concrete technology (green concrete technology and fiber reinforced concrete,), any civil engineering materials, polymer composites, composites and bio-composites. Her biggest interest is to turn potential waste into civil engineering materials. Microstructural analysis under spectroscopy testing is part of her expertise and interest. She always involves her current research on materials with element of microstructural analysis with combination of material science and this is one of the strategies to get her article published.
She very interested to give a talk “HOW TO WRITE THESIS FAST” by using AUTO GENERATE THESIS WRITING TECHNIQUE with MENTOR MENTEE APPROACH. She very proactive conducting this workshop and currently, more than 10 workshops have been conducted for UTM students at UTM Johor Bahru and UTM Kuala Lumpur. The participation of participants were from different field, faculty and universities.
