Description

Civil Engineering Materials

This course introduces students to the fundamental properties and behaviors of materials used in civil engineering construction. The subject covers the characteristics, manufacturing, testing, and performance of essential materials such as cement, concrete, aggregates, steel, timber, bricks, bitumen, and modern composites.

Concrete Technology

This course is designed to introduce students and enhance their knowledge on concrete technology. It emphasizes the rheology of fresh concrete, various design methods of concrete mixes, and the importance of compaction and curing during concreting. The course also covers the types of tests required on fresh and hardened concrete, including workability tests, and destructive and non-destructive tests.

Reinforced Concrete Design 1

This core course provides students with the fundamental understanding and skills to analyze and design reinforced concrete structural elements. Topics include design objectives and methods, code of practice, analysis and design of sections for moments and shear, checking for deflection and cracking, durability and detailing requirements, design of simply supported and continuous beams, and design of one-way and two-way restrained and simply supported slabs.

Reinforced Concrete Design 2

This course builds upon the foundational concepts introduced in Reinforced Concrete Design I. It delves deeper into the analysis and design of reinforced concrete structural elements, focusing on more complex structures and design considerations.

Research Methodology & Pre Project

This course aims to equip students with essential research skills and methodologies required for conducting their Final Year Project. Students will be exposed to various aspects of research, including types of research, literature review methods, research design, data analysis, thesis and journal writing, and presentation skills. The course also emphasizes problem-solving methodologies, decision-making processes, and data collection techniques.
