Bachelor Degree of Technology with Education (Mechanical Engineering) is offered in the Faculty of Education UTM. The student will be divided into four different majors, namely Welding, Machining, Automotive, and Air-conditioning and Refrigeration. I was assigned to teach Arc Welding subject for the students who major in Welding. It’s a practical subject with 2 credit hours and their assessment is based on weekly practical assessment. Last week they had performed the 1G welding on a lap joint and today they performed the 1F on a T-joint. They were given 5 sets of metal plate and they have to submit the best welded joint for their assessment together with the weekly lab sheet.

 

Before the welding practical session, En.Ros Iskandar, the senior assistant instructor, will show a demonstration and the advice needed while performing welding.

You may notice that all students and the instructor are wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) abide by the safety requirement in welding working area.
