Research Title : Measurement and Modelling of Electroluminescence Phenomenon in Virgin and Thermally Aged LDPE using Dimensional Analysis Method.

Research Summary : Space charge formation plays a significant role in long-term electrical degradation of polymeric insulation in high voltage overhead and underground cables. Therefore, a lot of efforts have been put to investigate the measurement of the energy dissipation of these space charges; trapped and mobile charges in the dielectric materials. The energy dissipation is related with the emission of visible photons, an optical property of space charges known as electroluminescence (EL) which has the potential as indicator for the initiation of electrical ageing of insulation material. A mathematical model using Dimensional Analysis method is developed in order to predict the life of a cable.

Research Title : Application of Dielectric Materials Through Space Charge Measurement

Research Summary : A lot of non-destructive methods have been devised to measure the internal charge
distribution in the materials. However, most of the methods are being applied on polymeric materials and very limited studies are reported on application of non-polymeric dielectric materials. The space charge measurements can provide additional information on properties of the dielectric materials as well as facilitate the observation of space charge and electric field profiles.

subject. In particular, this project is interested in the movement found in nature, in biological systems, such as human limbs. The motion is to be investigated with a view of analyzing the mechanical aspects of it, such as acceleration and displacement.
