Biography

“Think like a proton, always positive.”
– Henry Ford

Dr Sheela began her journey as an undergraduate in Bachelor of Science (Industrial Chemistry) at UTM, Johor. The research title that she was involving during her undergraduate degree was “Possible Use of Cement and Kaolinite as Adsorption Material for Lead in Water Analysis.” She graduated in year 2005.

Motivated with her passion in this field, she carried on her journey to further study at master’s degree level, where the research title of her project was “Modified Mesoporous Alumina Nanoparticles as Catalyst in Friedel-Crafts Alkylation of Resorcinol.”

Upon graduation from master ‘s degree, her journey on education did not come to an end. Nevertheless, she continued on pursuing Doctorate in Chemistry (Material Science) in Japan at Hokkaido University. During PhD, she has completed her research on “Preparation, Characterization and Photocatalytic Properties of Titania Particles Encapsulated in Hollow Silica Shells” and graduated in 2012.

After years of tremendous efforts on research, she had managed to publish more than 53 publications, apart from achieving more than 13 awards and recognitions. She also managed to obtained more than 18 research grants and lead certain projects. During her career, she had obtained 4 professional memberships from both national and international professional bodies.

In April 2016, she was promoted as senior lecturer in UTM, where she supervised and taught many students from all walks of life until today.
