Opportunities for UTM Students to Study Abroad and Inbound Mobility (for students around the world to come to UTM)

It is our great pleasure to invite you to our Outbound and Inbound Student Mobility programs.

UTM Students can get full or partial funding for their exchange with our partner university listed here http://www.utm.my/international/international-partnerships/.

Here are some FAQ for outbound and inbound student mobility programs :

Q : Where can the student go?
A: In general, our students can go anywhere in the world. For exchange/internship it is advisable to visit our international partner universities to have the tuition fee waived.

Q : Where did UTM students usually go for mobility?
A : Since 2009, students mobility from UTM covers 24 countries. In 2016, the majority of UTM students went to Japan, Korea, Germany, Australia and Hong Kong.

Q : What kind of program is available for a UTM student to go abroad?
A : We have few programs that are available –

Short Term Program – (which consists of Global Outreach Program, International Invitation Program & Summer School)

Long Term Program – Study Abroad & Student Exchange (consist of one/two semester(s) study abroad, Internship Abroad and research attachment)

Q : Is there any funding for outbound student mobility program?
A : Yes, we have various funding opportunities ranging from RM500 up to Full Scholarship including flight tickets and allowances. For the list of opportunities and funding please visithttp://www.utm.my/international/outbound-program/

Q : Who can I contact if I still have questions?
A : Please email globaloutreach@utm.my for any queries. If you or your students would like to meet us in person, please book a slot during our consultation hours here http://www.utm.my/international/request-information-session/. Our consultation hours are on Mondays 10:00 -11:00 am and Tuesdays 2:30 – 3.30 pm.

Q : What about the Inbound Student Mobility program? What kind of program do we have?
A : Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) welcomes students from around the world to study in UTM for a week to a year of study. List of programs offered are as the following:
1. Academic Visit
A group of students can spend 1 to 7 days in UTM to experience the unique Southeast Asian cultures, to study the global issue or to get access to extraordinary learning opportunities.
2. Student Exchange
Students from other institutions are invited to join UTM as Non Graduating Student (NGS) under the following program:
i) One semester or a year semester study (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)
ii) Internship (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)
3. UTM Summer School
This three-week program offers a number of interesting courses. It has a wide-application related to the environment, local community, heritage and tradition. The courses incorporate theory and practice, blended with the local culture and social activities. The summer school creates reciprocal partnership through which participants exchange ideas, share experience, discover new knowledge and establish network. Participants will learn and have hands-on experience by participating in various field trips and cultural programs.
