The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) was founded in 1975 and has been recognised for the quality of its academic and research programmes. FME offers 8 undegraduate programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical-Automotive Engineering, Mechanical-Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical-Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical-Industrial Engineering, Mechanical-Materials Engineering, Mechanical-Marine Technology, and Industrial Design. UTM Centre for Composites was first established in January 1995 following an increase in composites research activities at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with the objectives to educate and promote the composites technology through teaching, training and consultation to the public. The main scope of activity is the training of graduate and undergraduate students through course instruction and sponsored research projects. Personnel within the centre include Permanent Researchers, Postdoctoral Associates and Visiting Scholars with specialized skills in mechanics, polymer science, and manufacturing technology. CfC is based on the expertise from several departments within the University, namely Faculties of Civil Engineering, Chemical engineering, Polymer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. We seek to strive on strategic applied research, product development and training through smart partnership with government agencies, local institutions and private sectors.
