The FameLab Malaysia is back again this year!!
Can you explain science in 3 minutes?
We are looking for stars of tomorrow who can show off their area of science expertise in a fascinating and engaging way.
FameLab is the longest running science communication competition in the world with a global alumni of over 10,000 science communicators. This year, Malaysia’s Southern Heat will be jointly organized by UTM Science Speakers, Faculty of Science.
We are seeking Malaysia’s most talented candidate to join the world stage of FameLab International.
We would like to invite you and your friends to take part in FameLab Malaysia 2018. Open to anyone who is 21 years old and above, studying or working in the field of science, engineering, technology, or mathematics.

Penutupan Jalan di Zon 1 (PHB, RMC, SPS, UTMLEAD, BPA, SRAD) adalah pada jam 6.00 pagi.Walaubagaimanapun, penutupan Zon 7 (Lingkaran Ilmu) adalah seperti biasa iaitu pada jam 8.00 pagi. Parking disediakan di Tasik Laman Menanti. Pendaftaran CPD hours bagi Program Taklimat Hijau di Foyer PHB.

UTM International KL organises Leader’s Hike-Camp

A total of 30 participants from Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Iran, Yemen, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Syria, Egypt Malaysia had joined the program.
In this program, all students have been involved in the bonding activities including Great Explorace, Fishing, Bonding Games and BBQ which required them to work in a team and support each other to complete the program.
On the second day of the program, the students have been brought to Cape Rachado, Lighthouse, Tanjung Tuan to hike a hill called Bukit Putih.
The student had hiked for about 1.8km before reaching the beautiful peak. Later on the same day, the students was challenged with an obstacle course and jungle survival trekking.
The program climax is on the last day when the students are required to build their own raft before sailing to the sea. Overall, every student has shown a great leadership quality and enjoyed the program.

We are pleased to invite you to participate in a three-day MJIIT Microscopy Lab Workshop Series – 1: Field Emission Transmission Electron Microscope (FETEM) & Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (STEM), to be held on 6th – 8th February 2018 at Microscopy Laboratory, Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Campus.

About Our Workshop:

Advanced microscopy of FETEM is an essential technique in micro/nano-characterization to gather information on sample structure, defects, particle size and elemental composition/distribution. Efficient use of advanced microscopy equipment requires operators /researchers to have good knowledge on micro/nano-characterization; and sufficient skills in operation.
The Microscopy Laboratory of MJIIT organizes a series of workshops where a small number of trainees study thoroughly practical knowledge and skills in micro/nano-characterization, starting from Series 1 : FETEM/STEM.
The main topics covered in these course are:
1) Basic theory of FETEM/STEM & Sample Preparation
2) Demonstration on sample preparation using FIB-FESEM (FEI Helios Nanolab G3), and sample imaging using the FETEM (JEOL JEM-2100F)
3) Hands-on practice on using FETEM/STEM
