Biography

Ts. Dr. Zuhra Junaida binti Ir. Mohamad Husny Hamid is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FBES), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She also serves as the Research Program Coordinator and has previously held the position of Deputy Director at the Centre for Innovative Planning and Development (CIPD), UTM.

She obtained her Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering), Master of Science in Transportation Planning, and PhD in Transportation Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Prior to joining academia, she accumulated more than a decade of professional experience in logistics, freight forwarding, shipping, information technology, and banking, including positions at Kuehne + Nagel, Maersk Malaysia, Syntel Singapore, and Maybank. This combination of industry and academic experience enables her to bridge practical transportation and logistics challenges with research-driven solutions.

Dr. Zuhra’s research focuses on sustainable transportation planning, logistics and supply chain management, public transportation systems, urban mobility, freight transportation, cold chain logistics, halal logistics, reverse logistics, smart mobility, digital transformation, and emerging technologies in transportation. She has successfully led and collaborated in numerous national and international research projects funded by universities, industry, and government agencies, while supervising postgraduate research in transportation planning and logistics.

She has published extensively in high-impact journals indexed by Web of Science and Scopus, authored book chapters with international publishers including Routledge, Emerald, and Springer, and received numerous awards for excellence in research, teaching, publication, supervision, and academic advisory services from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

As a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and a Professional Technologist (Ts.), Dr. Zuhra actively contributes to advancing sustainable transportation systems, logistics innovation, and smart urban development through research, consultancy, teaching, and industry engagement.
