Dr. Zulkiflee (or Dr. Zul) is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Water and Environmental Engineering (formerly: Department of Hydraulics & Hydrology). He received his BSc. in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from the University of Miami, Florida, USA in 1987. Later in 1993, he completed his MEng. from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in the fields of Hydraulics & Hydrology. Then, he pursued his doctorate in UTM and was awarded PhD (Civil Engineering) in April 2015. For his PhD, Dr. Zul was working on experimental hydraulics for vegetated compound channels. The work included development of a flood flume facility which comprised of straight and meandering channels. His academic career path in UTM started as an Assistant Lecturer (or Tutor) in February 1989. Along the years, he had served as the Head of Hydraulic Laboratory from (1994 to 1998) and (2016 to 2022). Dr. Zul’s fields of research interest include Surface Water or Open Channel Hydraulics, Experimental Hydraulics, Hydro-environment and Fluvial Morphodynamics and his love to rivers is very much. Dr. Zul has carried out various experimental and field works where he has published in journals / proceedings and also presented in conferences / seminars.
