The Akbar Critical Thinking Model hypothesized that critical thinking can be explained by four major constructs which are Cognitive Complexity, Thinking Disposition, Meta-cognition, and Conscience . These elements are strongly affected by individual experiences, based on one’s belief system, and involved active, consistent and careful mental and behavioural activity. The model categorizes critical thinking into two distinct level: Schematic level, and Agency level. A good critical thinker should also have the drive and ability to question honestly, fairly and with responsibility on the interpretation of Revealed Knowledge, as well as being able to question to no end Human Discourse Knowledge. Belief as well as the fundamental values of the society where one lives has a great influence on this thinking process. To be able to make a wise decision or solve problems, a person should possess the ability to think critically that is sensitive to the values and culture of the society one lives in.
