Later today, i’ll join the American Chemical Society ACS delegation to welcome participants to an international chemistry festival training event.
This event will involves scientists from the nearby Thailand and South Korea as well as India, Australia and Hungary. Due to the commitment given by the chapter since the past three years, Kuala Lumpur is proudly chosen as the nation host for the training series.
In my proposal entitled ‘olympic of science’ (1), i have put forward the notion to give a fresh perspective of scientific activities in relation to the tourism value. Following the same breadth, we should work together in realizing our country as a globalized science hub; akin to the well-established educational or sport hub.
Looking to the long term prospective, this strategic initiative will surely contributes to our economic growth via a foreign investment portfolio.
To quote my previous statement to the Malaysia ACS members:
“After all, scientist should advocate the idea of borderless working across nations in addressing the complexity of the causes, impacts and solutions of many global concerns, according to the science diplomacy initiative”
Science can acts as a peaceful international platform to tether many sensitive issues and bridging the nations. It is due to the evidence-based and truthful approaches provided by science.
In this regard, scientist should also be perceived as a diplomat in promoting peace through science. Thus, it is important to explore the versatility of avenues in strengthening science agenda across the global scenario.
Through my involvement in various scientific organizations, i can foresee a huge potential offered by our country. Be it at ASEAN region, Asia Pacific or extended to a global scene; Malaysia was always trusted as a science governor to anchor various science activities.
Let alone with the trust given to our universities and local scientific organization to host numerous international science conferences.
We have the resourceful persons and vast experience supported by having a peaceful country. What needed now is to re-look and re-strategize the integrated planning, implementation and documentation-accelerated and championed by all the stakeholders.
Welcome to Malaysia!
Your hub for a globalized science.
