Biography

Currently, Fuaada is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. She joins Universiti Teknologi Malaysia since 2001 just after she completed her degree in Industrial Mathematics from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in the same year. In 2003, she served as a lecturer in the department. She completed her Master’s degree in Mathematics from the same university in 2003. In 2014, Fuaada received her Ph.D in Mathematics from University of Strathclyde, Scotland, UK.

This is the details of my area :

I am currently working on the mathematical modelling of the effect of ionising radiation. The aim of this research is to work on cell survival under radiation. Here we develop a realistic mechanistic model of high and low dose ionising radiation damage.
We use the framework of complex system of ordinary differential equations. The study includes the stability analysis, bifurcation and also the numerical solution of the system by the aid of mathematical software C++, MATLAB or MAPLE.
I also focus on the estimation of parameters involved in the system using global optimisation algorithm (simulated annealing) by comparing the simulation and experimental data.
We also take into account statistical techniques such as bootstrapping and confidence interval in order to analyse the result of the model parameter estimation.
I would certainly happy to work on mathematical modelling not only in the radiobiological area. The real problem could be in medical, or engineering , or life sciences or etc.
I also currently served as a Head of post-graduate programme at the Master level by mixed mode (coursework and research) in the Department.
I’m married and has five lovely children, two daughters and three sons.
