July 6 to 9, 2019 -Adopt a Kampung and IP2G team members conducted STEM motivation programs and follow-up study of STREAM Fun Learning Toy Library (FLTL) projects at three schools in Kelantan. Nine students from Diploma program UTM KL conducted STEM activities for the primary four to primary 6 students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Marak, Sekolah Kebangsaan Seneng (both in Bachok), and Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Geris (in Dabong). Over 300 students benefited from the programs. The year six students who were having their trial UPSR exams during the week had a motivating intervention session by our team, led by Dr Rasheed Kutty. The visit to our FLTL beneficiries and facilities at SK Seneng and SK Kuala Geris is a yearly activity by the team. Not only the pre-school students were evaluated but the past students were also assessed to identify the continued impact of our FLTL. Teachers were also interviewed and observations were made as part of our data collection for the FLTL effectiveness and our CQI. The pre-school classrooms at SK Bukit Marak do not have our FLTL but were also visited and how the classes were conducted were observed. More than 60 pre-school students from all three schools had benefitted from the visit, and about 20 past students (ranges from year 1 to 3) had a fruitful time with the team. Additionally, parents of identified students at SK Bukit Marak were also met for a motivation session with the team.
Although it was a very packed schedule this time but at the same time, the visit was satisfying. Support from the school management and teachers were extremely good, and as usual their warm welcoming gesture was magnificent. The team members would like to express our gratitude to the schools, MAIK, MDN, PPD, Razak Faculty and our Team Advisor @Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ir. Zainai Mohamad for the support, among others in terms of sponsorship, transport, permission and cooperation.
