Today is the day where we in UTM welcome our new addition in the forms of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
This day marks the first day of a more challenging and higher aspects of learning and education. Welcome and good luck!
Proud parents flock eagerly for the kids registration of the programs and venturing into the students accommodation with a car loaded with ‘essentials’ which include the ‘bantal busuk‘ (terminology: bantal busuk directly translated is smelly pillow, but it actually means a pillow that they have been using for soooo many years that it smells – the smell soothes the owner, but not really everyone else).
Aside from these ‘essentials’, you can see that these parents are looking into a positively bright future for their kids, entrusting them to the academics of UTM to mold their young child into great, mature, knowledgeable professional.
This is a big ‘amanah‘ or responsibility for us academics. These kids are entrusted to us, and we should do slightly better than our best to honour this amanah. We want to be confident and proud when we reply to Allah and the parents, when asked about “Have you upheld your amanah concerning these students of yours?”
To all the new students: “Welcome to UTM and the beginning of a new journey. May your days in UTM be a a positive one from all aspects of your life and education.”
To all the academics, management and supporting staffs of UTM: “May we always give our best, try always to be better, able to fulfill our amanah fully. May Allah guide us in our lives.”
