The new semester started on September 10, with it came a group of new faces on their journey of knowledge here in UTM. Among those new faces are my new advisee. To welcome them and also provide some good rapport and info, a meet and greet for the new undergraduate SCSR students was held on September 14.
The program began with some introduction of lecturers, some introductory info of the course and how it will be run across the years. A couple of senior students were also invited to share their experiences and give suggestions and advice. It is important to balance studies with life, and these seniors having went through the course (they were recently graduated), had many insights to share. Following that, the students were grouped with their respective Academic Advisor (PA) over some tea and munchies. We got to know one another, as this is a 4-year long (or maybe more) relationship between me and them. Some voiced their worries on certain things, while others were pretty quiet. I mainly expressed the important role of a PA, and they should look at me as their go to person in academics.
For a first meeting, it went well in my opinion. Insya Allah, we we all have great years ahead.
