JOHOR BAHRU, 20 November 2016 – A total of 200 students of the Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Geoinformation and Real Estate and the Faculty of Science Universiti Teknologi Malaysia were involved in the students’ Anti-Corruption Awareness Programme of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

The programme was organized by the Faculty of Management with the collaboration from UTM Secretariat of Corruption Prevention and Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The programme was held at the Senate Hall, Sultan Ibrahim Chancellery Building, Johor Bahru campus and officiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kassim Thukiman, Director of UTM Press.

Programme Coordinator, Dr. Azlineer Sarip explained that the activity carried was a continuation of the programme that have been undertaken by the public and also the MACC.

“The Anti-Corruption Awareness Programme conducted today was part of a special task that must be completed by students taking the subject Technocrat and Development (UHAS 2023) and Professional Ethics (UHAS 2092).

“This is also intended to show that the university community are very serious in supporting the government’s efforts in fighting this negative phenomenon in Malaysia,” she said.

Among the activities that support the programme were an Anti-Corruption exhibition, a talk by the Johor MACC officers and the hanging of 12 anti-corruption banners as a pledge of UTM students to not get caught up in corruption.

“For the exhibition activities, the program was started as early as 20 October 2016 and lasted for a week. During this time, we’ve made a roadshow to all faculties in UTM, “she said.

It is hoped that this activity can help raise awareness for students and staff in general about the dangers of corruption and the consequences resulting from this irresponsible act.
