JOHOR BAHRU, 6 October 2016 – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Azizi Che Yunos was declared the winner of the Best of the Best Award at the Industrial, Art and Technology Exhibition (INATEX) 2016 that was held at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, UTM Johor Bahru campus.
Prof. Mohd Azizi, attached to the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FCEE), was also selected for the Gold Award for his research project titled ‘Supercritical Co2 Ortho- SRE Health Supplement’.
His counterpart, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hafiz Dzafran Othman who is also attached to FCEE won the Best Invention Award and Gold Medal for his invention, ‘Hybrid Photocatalytic Dual- Layer Hollow Fibre Membranes for Wastewater Treatment’.
The competition also witnessed Dr. Goh Pei San from Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering winning the Vice Chancellor Special Award and Gold Medal for her project, ‘Nano- Enabled Membrane for Co2 Capture’.
The representative from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Mohd Haizal Jamaluddin was given the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation Award and Gold Medal for his project ‘Dual-Band MIMO Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antenna for LTE Application’.
The winner of Best of the Best Awards was awarded a Research fund worth RM 50,000.00 sponsored by the Office of the Menteri Besar of Johor. All winners received their respective prizes from the Menteri Besar Johor, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
For the year of 2016, INATEX and two other UTM annual programmes, the UTMost Innovation Festival and UTM Entrepreneur Day were merged to become one programme known as the Johor Entrepreneurship And Innovation Day (JenID) 2016.
Also attending the ceremony were UTM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ir. Datuk Dr. Wahid Omar and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail.
