CREATING ONLINE ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENT

Contents:

Education focuses on the ‘process’, not achievement metrics alone
-Summative assessment does not necessarily means Final Examination (MQA) – Alternative assessment can be option – Online QUIZ still considered traditional

Alternative assessment:

  • beyond traditional psychometrically driven testing
  • assess learning tasks that stimulate critical thinking skills
  • not assessing memorization , but what students can /cannot do (higher level skills/other skills cannot be measured by pencil/paper
(eg. Kahoot is a traditional assessment- assess knowledge/understanding,) (presentation, viva voce= alternative assessment, assess performance, not objectively measured but subjective) (quiz/test using online platform or e learning-still considered traditional)
other examples: service learning, online service learning (dealing with virtual community)
