Retaining wall is a structure that holds or retains soil behind it. There are many types of materials that can be used to create retaining walls like poured concrete, treated timbers, rocks, and the most popular nowadays is concrete blocks. The selection of retaining wall is based on the purposed of the project including for foundation of adjacent properties and services, working space requirements and site constraints, maintenance of the wall and support system in permanent condition, etc. Did you know one of the most popular type of retaining wall in Malaysia (above picture) is created by Malaysian engineer?
