Update 23/9/2016: We are going to revisit Luang Prabang Feb 2017. wohoooo!!! AA just made direct flight from Kuala Lumpur and we secured the return trip for only RM97. I haven’t told any of my colleagues. Lets see how many of them read this blog and found this secret hehe.

Tidak pernah mendengar nama Luang Prabang sebelum ini. Tapi novel Kisah Naz & Khaalish merubah segala-galanya. I fell in love with the story and wanted to trace her steps. I fell in love with Luang Prabang just like Naz. When we went in 2013 we had to stop in Vientiane and took a scary van/bus ride to Luang Prabang. Now in 2016, Air Asia has a direct flight from Bangkok to LP. Mungkin tiba masa menjenguk Luang Prabang sekali lagi?

Arc de Triomphe versi Viantiane. The rest in this city are all Wats/Buddhist Temples/Stupa (yg rasa dah tgk satu, cukuplah) — at Patuxai.

We've arrived!!!!!!! 340 km. 10 hours journey merentasi gunung ganang lurah gaung. (As a comparison JB-KL is the same distance that can be done in less than 3.5 hrs) Vientiane-Luang Prabang overland trip is definitely not for the faint hearted. The last 4 hrs were full speed roller coaster ride with sharp turns. So proud of my charlie's angels. No panadol, asam, minyak angin or menggunakan plastik bag yg diberikan. We survived despite the kelab dangdut rambong full blast in the minivan during the whole journey.

The original plan was to take the night sleeper bus at 8pm but we decided to take the local minivan at 1pm instead upon seeing the van is new. I think we hit the jackpot coz the AC is working, no ayam itik among the passangers, van is not full and the driver kinda berhemah. (Kalau baca blog posts mat saleh pasal journey ni, mmg ramai yg chicken out kot) We didn't want to stay at our booked hotel sebab rasa rugi dah tengah malam. We asked the tuk2 driver to drop us kat mana banyak hostel murah. It's a nice lane but sume guesthouse either dah tutup or dah penuh until the last guesthouse. So, here we are. In Luang Prabang but kat mana pun tatau. Esoklah kita figure out sume benda. Tonight I just want to appreciate the fact that I survived the journey!! (Journey balik nanti belum tahu cite lol)

Good morning Luang Prabang. Sebab musabab kesanggupan meredah gunung ganang selama 10 jam. If not for Hanina Abdullah, I would have never heard of this Unesco World Heritage town — at JOMA Luang Prabang.

Setelah Wat ke 4, kitorg bagitahu brader tuk2, udah2lah tuuuuu, sama aje. Wpun byk lagi dia nak tunjuk. Takyah sewa tuktuk sepatutnya. Bawa beskal pusing2 pun dah good enough.

Loving the street where the tuk2 driver dropped us at midnight last night. Rows of beautiful guest houses and clean path. Hor Xienng Rd, between Sisavangvong Road and Mekong River.

"Datang sini takyah bawak power bank. Boleh charge tepi jalan", kata kami. Gelak besar pemandu tuktuk itu. "Itu untuk peniaga pasar malam pasang lampu", jelas beliau. oooo tapi kalau tersedak waktu siang bolehlah kami charge handphone ?

Jalan utama di Luang Prabang, Jalan Sisavangvong dipenuhi dengan gerai-gerai yang menjual beraneka barangan seperti beg, pakaian, kraf tangan, hiasan batu-batu aked dan sebagainya. Setiap malam jalan ini bertukar menjadi pasar malam, tempat masyarakat tempatan mencari rezeki menjual barangan buatan tempatan kepada pelancong-pelancong. #KnK Sisavangvong Road.

Berbeskal pukul 5 pagi utk ini. #gayahidupsihat ---------------------------- Sekali pandang, di awal pagi yang cahayanya masih berbalam-balam, memang kelihatan bagai arus kuning yang mengalir memenuhi jalan-jalan utama Luang Prabang. Dua kali pandang barulah tersedar bahawa arus kuning itu sebenarnya adalah beratus-ratus orang sami-sami yang dibaluti kain kuning berjalan dengan langkah-langkah tenang. Di pinggir jalan pula penganut agama Buddha bersimpuh di atas tikar-tikar kecil, bersedia dengan makanan seperti pulut dan pisang untuk disedekahkan. Apabila sami-sami itu tiba di hadapan mereka, tangan kiri dan kanan dilekapkan di paras dada sebagai tanda hormat dan makanan dimasukkan ke dalam bekas yang dibawa oleh sami-sami tersebut di Sakkaline Road, Luang Prabang.

Cite LP tak habis lagi 🙂 A perfect place to recharge. We cycled daily through the alleys of the old town full of nice rows of immaculate kept houses, guest houses and boutique hotels, stroll along the river, stopped at the cafes and end nightly at the night market. Very light traffic, good road conditions, perfect for someone like me yg dah 7 tahun tak pegang handle beskal.

3D 3N. It was such an experience. Time stood still in Luang Prabang. Now we are starting another uncharted journey. 10 hours sleeper bus back to Vientiane. Goodbye Luang Prabang and Goodnight Malaysia.

We made it! We had a total of 20 hours bus rides and lived to tell the stories. We were very fortunate none of the horror stories we read before coming happened to us. I prefer the night sleeper bus as opposed to the minivan (Didn't try the normal VIP bus). Pro: Dapat luruskan kaki dan tak terasa masa perjalanan. Cons: tak dapat tgk the breathtaking sceneries from LP. Jalan dia ala2 Bkt Fraser, Bukit Putus, Kundasang kot. Bagi I kacang jeee (haha tapi masa bas siang tu tensen sebab dah lama sgt) Verdict: this route is only for seasoned travellers. Yang lain, either amik flight from Bangkok or tunggu je lah AA ada direct flight to LP.
