This would be my 5th phone number in 8 years. All prepaid.

1) Celcom

2) Tunetalk when i started using Blackberry

3) Umobile when I changed to Note2. RM68 for 5GB data.

4) Back to Tunetalk. RM50 for 5GB data.

5) Hotlink, i accidently rediscovered when i was looking for cheap roaming rate to be used in China with my (China made too) Xiaomi. RM38 for 3GB data.

Why prepaid?

You get to terminate without hassle. No contract. Do not want to get stick with a bad contract.

Why Hotlink?

So many freebies. The 3GB is only for weekdays allowance. You get extra 2G data every weekend and free Youtube for 2GB and free Spotify. Plus social media are mostly free like Whatsapp Telegram etc, not accounted for in the data quota. How cool is that?

Why change numbers when you can MNP?

I usually have a trial run with a new telco by getting the free/cheap new sim card. Once i am satisfied that the coverage is okay, then only I terminate the old sim. By then, i get used to the new number and dont mind keeping it. Plus changing to new number lets u  avoid those pesky telepromoter.

And… Hotlink has the cheapest roaming rate. A very important criteria for me! (Only when local internet rate is too expensive or you cant use media social like in China)
