Once google has verified you as the owner of your website (follow the steps here), you can do so many things. The most important thing is to get google to crawl and index your website faster, so you can see the site:website results numbers increase faster.
From google: Sitemaps provide an extra way for us to understand what pages you have on your site, and can help speed up the discovery of new and updated pages on your site. But neither HTML nor XML Sitemaps replace the normal crawling process. Having a Sitemap will not increase your ranking in Google’s search results pages—but it will not reduce it, either.
Here’s how to do it.
A) On your website wordpress admin:
- Go to plugins menu and activate Google XML Sitemaps
- Go to Settings -> XML-Sitemap
- Get the sitemap address.
B) On your site:website google page:
- Click Try Google Search Console.
- It will bring you to your Google Search Console page
C) On your Google Search Console page
- Click on your website link.
- On the dashboard menu, click Crawl -> Sitemaps
- Click ADD/TEST SITEMAP (on the top right hand corner)
- Type your website address and click submit.
You are done!! Once you have submitted your sitemap, it will make google crawler bot’s job easier and after sometime, you will see your site:website results increase faster. Give it sometime like a week or two in the earlier times, after that it will shoot up. So, regularly check the link to see the graph.
