Prof Sr. Dr. Mazlan Hashim FASc is currently the Senior Director of Research Institute of Sustainable Environment (RISE), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM); and Fellow of the Geoscience and Digital Earth Centre (INSTeG), Faculty of Built Environment & Surveying.UTM. Conferred as Fellow of the Academy Sciences Malaysia (ASM) under Engineering Sciences. He held several positions as Visiting Professor/Scientist at Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan (2011-2020); Arabian Gulf University (2015); Univ. of Cambridge, United Kingdom (2010); National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan (2002- 2004), Peking University, China (1990); and Tohoku University, Japan (1989). A professional member, Fellow and life member of Malaysia Institution on Geospatial and Remote Sensing; member to IEEE and IEEE transaction on Geoscience & Remote Sensing; Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia; and professional member to International Hydrological Association. He has led national and international collaborative research in the last 30 years in remote sensing and its related technology applications.
