Biography

Dr. Mohd Azreen Mohd Ariffin

I was a Project Engineer in Project Management Company at HICOM Properties, Sdn. Bhd, Shah Alam from 1997 until 1999 which involved in several projects of housing development at Shah Alam Town Centre and Bukit Saga, Shah Alam, Selangor.

In 2000- 2001, I joined another construction company namely KELKON Sdn. Bhd (contractor class A) as Project Engineer which also involved in housing projects at Kota Bharu, Kelantan,

In 2001, I decided to be a lecturer in Politeknik Kota Bharu Kelantan (PKB) after four (4) years involved in construction fields as a project engineer.

In 2004 – 2006, I further my study in Master Engineering as a part-time student at UTM, Johor. I received the Master (Civil – Structure) degree from UTM in 2007. After 10 years of service as the lecturer in PKB, I decided to take a study leave under the scholarship of HLP 2010 for the PhD program as a full-time student in UTM. I completed my Ph.D. research in geopolymer concrete. The concrete is proved to have a higher resistance to the acid, sulfate, and elevated temperature exposure compared with normal Portland concrete.

After officially awarded as Doctor of Philosophy (Civil Engineering) in 2014, I joined UTM as Senior Lecturer on 17 August 2014 at Structure and Materials Department and Forensic Engineering Centre, School of Civil Engineering Faculty of Engineering UTM.

My areas of expertise are as follows:

  1. Concrete Technology, Engineering Materials focusing on Geopolymer Concrete.
  2. Engineering Sciences, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering.
  3. Material Sciences, Advanced Materials – Microstructure Characterization
  4. Forensic Engineering.
