It was a significant year for the 41-year-old Donald Trump. In 1987, Trump published his first book, The Art of the Deal, which climbed to No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller list; and he appeared on the cover of Newsweek under the title “Citizen Trump,” a not-altogether-flattering reference to Orson Welles’ 1941 movie Citizen Kane.
Citizen Kane is in fact Trump’s favorite film. “I think you learn in Kane that maybe wealth isn’t everything,” Trump later commented. “Because Kane had the wealth, but he didn’t have happiness.” Read more…
