Griffin's genius new cable brings MagSafe back to the MacBook

Last year was arguably when the USB type-C port began its trajectory as the port of the future. Thin and sleek, Apple and Google integrated it into the MacBook and Chromebook Pixel 2, respectively

Now, due to increasing adoption of the multitasking port, more USB-C accessories are coming.

The latest is Griffin’s BreakSafe Magnetic USB-C Power Cable. While it won’t be available until April, it’s debuting at CES in Las Vegas on Monday, and it’s pretty brilliant.

Most people can relate to tripping over their charging cords, and Apple’s MagSafe connector has prevented laptop damages that happen as a result. But since Apple ditched MagSafe in the new MacBook last year in favor of USB-C, the much-needed safety net isn’t there. Read more…
