LAS VEGAS — Oculus Rift, you’re on notice.
HTC — which has been teasing its own virtual reality headset for almost a year — has really delivered with its updated version of the Vive, a called the Vive Pre. I got a chance to experience the new Vive at a demo at CES 2016, and it’s extremely compelling. Although the level of sophistication isn’t appreciably different from Oculus, HTC has introduced a couple of important conveniences that make all the difference.
First things first: The struggling HTC is pinning a lot of hopes to the Vive, is a fully immersive VR system. It’s been delayed for months, which has let Samsung capture a lot of the early buzz around VR with its Gear VR headsets, which you can actually buy right now. Read more…
