2015 was a record year for gun sales and background checks for new guns, according to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation
There were over 23 million background checks for gun sales in 2015, more than double the number in 2007, FBI data show
Gunmaker Smith & Wesson also revised its earnings guidance to say its profits would be about 38% higher than the company expected.
