There’s a moment in the penultimate episode of American Horror Story: Hotel when Kathy Bates’ Iris, the tragic hotel clerk turned vampire who wants nothing more than a peaceful life with her beautiful son Donovan, reaches an all-time low.
Her son had died just a few hours earlier, an unintended victim of Iris and Liz Taylor’s assassination attempt on Lady Gaga’s The Countess, and eventually she’s left alone with his ashes, spreading them over a hotel room bed, sprawling them all over the walls, covering herself head to toe in his dusty remains.
