Indian classical musicians use the Force to cover iconic 'Star Wars' music

The Indian Jam Project is back at it, covering iconic film scores in the tradition of classical Indian music. 

The musicians sample pieces from across the Star Wars filmography, including the film’s main theme, the theme from The Force Awakens (based on “The Force” from Empire Strikes Back) and the sinister “Dual of the Fates” from The Phantom Menace.

“The Imperial March” gets red lighting and a shadowy belly dancer dressed in all black, while the brief-but-brilliant harmonium arrangement of “Cantina Band” teases Kathak dancer Meenal Verma and her ghungroos (ankle bells). Read more…
