Indian bride asks groom to plant 10,000 saplings as a gift for their Earth Day wedding

An Indian bride who was getting married on Apr. 22, or Earth Day, decided to have a green wedding to celebrate the true spirit of the day. She asked her groom and his family for a unique wedding gift — to plant 10,000 saplings around her home in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Priyanka Bhadoria said that her request came from a deep concern about the environment

The 22-year-old science graduate revealed that she has seen her father, a farmer, face several difficulties and low crop yields due to droughts caused by the region’s shrinking green cover over the years. The groom was only to happy to agree. Read more…
