An 11-year-old wearing full Mets gear had a casual warmup catch with Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer before a game at Citi Field on May 18.
The boy’s father, Joe La Rocca, captured a video of the catch between Scherzer on the field and the young fan in the stands.
“I’m not giving this ball away, there’s no way,” the 11-year-old says after the catch has ended.
While the ordeal hasn’t changed the La Rocca family’s Mets allegiance, they did become lifetime Scherzer fans.
