'The Flash' finale remembered the one thing many DC Comics properties forget

His name is Barry Allen, and he’s the fastest man alive. But Tuesday night’s season finale reminded the viewers that all his speed’s worth nothing without his family cheering him on.

On The Flash, that found family has been at the heart of the show since its start — through betrayals and the addition of some long-lost siblings and surly dopplegangers. The Flash, both the character and the show, is nothing without that support system, which is something so many other DC Comics properties forget.

The finale started where the penultimate episode ended: with Zoom murdering Barry’s dad in front of him. This leads Barry to react with anger and seek revenge, exactly what Zoom wanted. But luckily his found family — the Wests, the Wellses, and the STAR Labs team — are there to literally lock him up before he can do anything stupid (in this case, accept Zoom’s request for a race).  Read more…
