In a video posted to Hillary Clinton’s YouTube page on Thursday afternoon, President Barack Obama officially endorsed Clinton for president. The video was posted not long after Obama held a private meeting with Clinton’s Democratic primary opponent, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont).
Obama’s endorsement is hardly a surprise given that Clinton served as Obama’s Secretary of State during his first term in office. That reconciliation came after a competitive, at many times bitter, primary fight for the Democratic nomination in 2008, a fight that Obama invokes in an attempt to bridge the gap between Clinton and Sanders supporters.
