As LGBTQ Pride marches took place across the nation on Sunday, a message of support appeared on President Barack Obama’s Twitter account.
In June of 2015, the Supreme Court ruled that all 50 states must allow same-sex marriage, a high point of Obama’s presidential tenure.
This year’s round of Pride events come during a difficult time for members of the LGBTQ community. Earlier this month, 49 people were killed in a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
Obama condemned the shooting — the most deadly in recent U.S. history — in a speech given later that day. Read more…
