Stephen Colbert came up with a funny way to educate his Late Show viewers on the Summer Games Done Quick charity drive and the speedrunning talents the event showcases.
For those not familiar with the practice, speedrunners master specific video games with the goal of completing them as quickly as possible. This often involves using glitches and other unintended exploits to shave away seconds (or even tenths of seconds).
Colbert decided to test his Hot Pocket-eating skills against renowned speedrunner Mitch Fowler, who holds the world record time in Super Mario Bros. 3, as well as Columbia University’s men’s relay team. The results are appropriately magical. Read more…
