Back in 1999, Bryanna Plantier was five years old, she went to Barnes & Noble with her grandmother and used her hoarded cash to buy her first book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Seventeen years later, the community inspired by the seven-book, eight-film series is thriving, and Plantier is thriving because of it. The support of Harry Potter and his fans have changed her life — and her relationship with her daughter, who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

A few years ago, Plantier decided to pack up her daughter and move to Central Florida to attend Saint Leo University. She didn’t know anyone until she joined both the Central Florida Slug Club and the Harry Potter Alliance. For the first time, Plantier said, she had found where she fits. Read more…
