LONDON — Complaining about the weather is a time-honoured British tradition.
Normally we like to moan that it’s too rainy or too cold, but for one or two golden weeks every year — the slender, fleeting window that we call summer — things go the other way.
On Tuesday, temperatures in Britain reached the early-to-mid 30s. It was the hottest day of the year. A few hours into the morning and #ukheatwave, #scorchio and #hottestdayoftheyear were already trending on social media.
Twitter quickly went into meltdown.
