'Veep' actor has Emmy nomination rescinded

LOS ANGELES — Veep’s Peter MacNicol is no longer a 2016 Emmy nominee.

The 62-year-old actor, who was nominated for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for his role as Jonah’s politically influential uncle, was disqualified on Thursday, according to reports.

The reason for the rescinded nomination? MacNicol appeared in five out of 10 episodes in the HBO show’s fifth season. 

However, according to TV Academy rules, an actor must appear in “less than 50 percent” of a season’s episodes in order to qualify for a nomination in the guest actor category. Awards website GoldDerby.com first noticed the violation. Read more…
