Rio mayor says a kangaroo might solve 'unliveable' Olympic village issues

After the Rio de Janeiro athlete’s village was criticised as “unliveable” by the Australian Olympic Committee, the city’s major has taken a decidedly unserious route by cracking a kangaroo joke.  

Eduardo Paes told a Brazilian news outlet “I almost feel like putting a kangaroo in front of their building to make them feel at home.” A hilarious way to discharge reports of blocked toilets, exposed wiring, leaking water and the distinct smell of gas, if ever there was one.  

While other nation’s teams have only found minor problems with the plumbing and electrical set-up at the athlete’s village, Fairfax Media reported, head of the Australian delegation Kitty Chiller was less chill than her name suggests. On Sunday night, she confirmed no Australian athletes would be moving into the buildings, which are being viewed as a health and safety concern.   Read more…
