Marco Rubio is making a play for the pews in Iowa.
The Florida senator is out with a new ad aimed at the state’s large evangelical community that focuses heavily on his Christian faith.
“Our goal is eternity, the ability to live alongside our creator for all time. To accept the free gift of salvation offered to us by Jesus Christ,” Rubio says in the ad. “The struggle on a daily basis as a Christian is to remind ourselves of this. The purpose of our life is to cooperate with God’s plan.”
The Jesus-centered pitch comes as Rubio looks to keep Sen. Ted Cruz from cornering Iowa’s substantial base of religious conservatives, and pick up folks who’d been Ben Carson supporters but are looking around for a more viable candidate as the neurosurgeon continues to fade. Read more…
