A lot of politicians in both parties are suddenly talking seriously about the scourge of addiction now that heroin and prescription drug abuse is taking a toll in rural, mostly white areas. Maine’s Republican governor? Not so much.
“These are guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty … these types of guys … they come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, they go back home,” Maine Gov. Paul LePage said during a Wednesday town hall, according to The Portland Press-Herald.
