Liverpool streets shut down over office bomb scare

LONDON — A building in Liverpool was evacuated and streets surrounding it were shut down after reports of a man who claimed to be in possession of a suspect package.

Police were initiating negotiations with the man after they were called to the scene at Silkhouse Court, Tithebarn Street on Frriday around 10:30 a.m.

“No one is injured, and a cordon has been put in place as a safety precaution,” according to a police statement.

A number of roads have been closed and police have asked motorists to avoid the area.
