After 26 years, the Indian army’s canine unit will march alongside the country’s soldiers in the forthcoming Republic Day parade on Jan. 26

The army has selected 36 dogs, including 24 Labradors and 12 German Shepherds, who will grace the parade along with their trainers. They were chosen from the Meerut-based Remont and Veterinary Corps centre, where both humans and canines are trained. They have been practising their march thrice a day for the last four months.
