Aerial photographs show the ashen remains of a Western Australian town destroyed by bushfires.
In January, locals in the small town of Yarloop were forced to flee as ferocious fires engulfed the area. Two elderly men were killed, and more than 120 homes were lost in the blaze
“It was so terrifying … Sparks flying over us, the wind was blowing and explosions of the buildings and everything,” Adelma Archer, a resident who tried to take cover at a sporting oval, told ABC’s 7:30 Report. “We were just covered in all this ash falling and I thought we were going to burn up, that the cars would explode or catch fire.” Read more…
