Phone company giveth, customers taketh.
Australian telecommunications company Telstra made good on a promise on Sunday, giving mobile customers a day of free data as part of an apology for the outages experienced on mobile and Internet services nationwide last Tuesday.
Telstra said on its support page that it would not place restrictions on the amount of data a user could take advantage of on Sunday. Australians took this as meaning they should download everything in sight
The company announced Monday that customers didn’t hold back when it came to downloads on Telstra’s cellular network, amassing a total of 1,841 terabytes of data during the free-for-all extravaganza. It’s equivalent to 5.1 million episodes of Game Of Thrones, or 23 million downloaded copies of Kanye West’s new The Life Of Pablo album, Telstra said in a statement. Read more…
