That’s a pretty huge rodent, if it were one.

A rabbit was seized from its owners in Queensland, Australia, after they tried to unsuccessfully convince police that it was a guinea pig. So its owners know, guinea pigs only grow to 20 to 30 centimetres (8 to 10 inches) as an adult.

Found living in a cage inside a caravan, the rabbit was discovered by officers from Springwood Police, who were dealing with an incident in relation to its owners.

It’s illegal to own a rabbit in the state of Queensland, which has the toughest laws on the animal in the world. They’re considered destructive, introduced pests, with fines of up to A$44,000 (US$32,950) and up to six months jail if a person is caught with one. Read more…
