Debris found on Mozambique 'almost certainly' from MH370, authorities say

Debris found on the island of Mozambique is highly likely to have come from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, the Australian government has confirmed.

The two pieces of debris, which arrived in Canberra, Australia on Sunday, are consistent with panels from a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 plane, Australia’s Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said in a statement.

The debris was examined by Australian and Malaysian investigators, along with experts from Boeing, Geoscience Australia and the Australian National University.

“The analysis has concluded the debris is almost certainly from MH370,” Chester explained. “That such debris has been found on the east coast of Africa is consistent with drift modelling performed by the CSIRO and further affirms our search efforts in the southern Indian Ocean.” Read more…
