Stylish pups strut their stuff in the annual NYC Paws Parade

New York City celebrated the ASPCA’s 150th anniversary on Sunday, with the Paws Parade and the Adoptapalooza. New Yorkers and their four-legged friends came to watch marchers from the ASPCA, the Alliance for NYC’s Animals, NYPD, and more raise awareness about animal adoption.

The Adoptapalooza followed the Paws Parade in Union Square and at House of Vans in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Over 300 homeless dogs, cats and rabbits were at the event eager for New Yorkers to give them new homes. Animal Planet covered the adoption fees during the event

“Adoptapalooza is about bringing together many of the rescue groups in New York City and bringing the animals that they’re caring for to loving New Yorkers and trying to make a perfect match,” ASPCA President and CEO Matt Bershadker told Mashable. “So what I would say is today is really about completing families. It’s about having families come and finding that dog or cat that’s really going to make them whole.” Read more…
